Meet Owen Zighelboim!

This is Owen Zighelboim and I’m one of the seven lucky souls travelling to Durban, South Africa for eight weeks this summer. I am currently a rising sophomore here at Duke University and intend to pursue a major in public policy and a certificate in civic engagement and social change.

As a South Florida native, I love being in the water and enjoy activities such as travelling, surfing, and spending time with friends and family.

I will be working at Assegai Primary School as a teaching assistant this summer. Hopefully, my experiences will allow me to better understand the South African education system in a social and historical context.

I can’t wait to immerse myself in the rich culture of South Africa and I look forward to growing from all the unique opportunities waiting for me in Durban!
